In this workshop we develop our own sculpture — from the first idea and sketch to the finished plaster model. The versatile material offers many artistic possibilities. We start with drawings or small clay studies to explore form and proportion. Based on these, we build a supporting structure from armature wire or steel, which forms the skeleton of our sculpture. Layer by layer, liquid plaster is applied, modeled while still soft, and refined after hardening. Through carving, sanding, or sawing, we shape the surface and bring the figure to life. The results range from smooth and polished to raw and expressive.

The finished plaster sculpture can later be cast in bronze by an external foundry. The course is suitable for both beginners and participants with previous sculptural experience

About the Artist
Michael Jastram is a sculptor based in Niebüll, northern Germany. His figurative works have been exhibited widely and are represented in public collections. He has received several awards for his art, including the Gustav-Weidanz Prize.
