Wood sculpting with Yves Rasch
Creating wooden sculptures - for beginners and advanced students
In our weekend workshop, we'll immerse ourselves in the world of wood carving.
Under the guidance of sculptor Yves Rasch, we'll create our own sculptures – from the initial idea to the finished piece. First, we'll model our designs in clay and then transfer them to a suitable piece of wood. Using traditional tools like mallets and chisels, we'll gradually bring our idea to life in the wood until our sculpture stands before us.

About the artist
Yves Rasch has been working as a freelance wood and bronze sculptor since 2002. His works are exhibited internationally, and his preferred materials are sourced regionally: local wood from Northern Germany. A fantastic experience.
Werkgut offers the perfect ambiance for creative work, complemented by the open and welcoming hostess, Mikaela. A big thank you also to Nina, who made our breaks and meals even more enjoyable, both visually and tangibly.
The woodcarving course was led by Yves Rasch, who, with his calming composure and impressive empathy, guides even complete beginners, gently introducing them to the tools and materials and attentively supporting them throughout the entire creation process of their very own "artwork." The results demonstrate his ability not only to create stunning sculptures himself but also to impart an eye for proportion and harmonious forms, as well as the skill of working with wood. Go for it, this course is fantastic!

In May 2022, I was a guest at Mikaela's WERKGUT for a four-day woodcarving workshop. During the workshop, we participants stayed in the lovingly furnished guest rooms of the old manor house and were treated to excellent meals and care around the clock. WERKGUT is a special place with plenty of space for creativity and new experiences. Mikaela's open and welcoming nature makes you feel right at home.

The Procedure
Weekend Workshop Friday to Sunday
Arrival on June 13th from 9:00 AM
Overnight stay possible
We begin on the first day at 10:00 AM with an introduction to the topic by the artist. The workshop continues until Sunday afternoon, interrupted only by good conversation and delicious food.
Those who wish can stay on the estate for a few days afterward and further develop the learned techniques in the open studio.
