Expert workshop on porcelain throwing and shaping with Karin Bablok
Porcelain on the potter's wheel – shaping, mounting and designing for advanced students
This workshop is designed for experienced potters who are already experienced and can produce cylinders at least 15–20 cm high. Under the expert guidance of internationally renowned ceramic artist Karin Bablok, participants will engage in an intensive process of throwing, hammering, cutting, and assembling porcelain forms. On Friday, we will begin by throwing the cylinders and preparing the bases for the vessels. On Saturday, we will shape these using wooden blocks, cut them open, and reassemble them. Sunday will see the finishing touches in the leather-hard state – precise, focused, and with a keen sense of both material and form. A little theory will be incorporated, but the main focus remains on the practical application, the concentrated work with the "white gold," and the joy of creating form.
What you can expect:
Turning porcelain cylinders as the starting form
Tapping, cutting, shaping, and assembling
Precise finishing in the leather-hard state
Professional instruction by Karin Bablok

What guests say about the workshop
Sometimes, in the beginning, the "wanting" got in the way. The game of discovery was liberating. The "immersion" was quiet, the surprise joyful. Ultimately, there was pride in what had been created.
