Experimenting with enamel - a workshop for beginners and advanced participants

In this enamel workshop, we'll explore the material of enamel through experimentation. We'll work with colored glass powder on copper sheets, which is melted in a kiln at high temperatures. This creates multi-layered surfaces, vibrant colors, and spontaneous textures. After a brief introduction to the material and the firing process, we'll try out various techniques directly on small copper plates. We'll layer colors, draw on the still-loose enamel, and work with foils, powders, or mesh structures. We can scratch, layer, slide, fold, or flame. The resulting samples demonstrate how differently enamel can behave on metal – depending on the temperature, layer thickness, or shape of the base material.
The focus is on exploring the possibilities: How does the color behave in the fire? How does the surface and its effect change due to the material? What creative avenues can be discovered?
We'll work with simple jewelry forms and small objects. Silver sheet and wire can be purchased during the course if needed.

Nicole Beck works with enamel, metal, and paint. In her studio, she creates small series, independent pieces, and material experiments, focusing on the interplay of color and surface. Arrival on Friday from 9 AM

On Friday, we'll start at 10:00 AM with a welcome coffee and an introduction to the topic. After that, we'll enjoy delicious food and pleasant conversation until around 2:00 PM on Sunday. Overnight accommodation is available.
