Designing porcelain with engobe, molds and paint

In this workshop, we will explore the creative possibilities of cast porcelain and porcelain slips. Porcelain doesn't always have to be white and delicate; it can also be colorful, bold, and expressive. We will work with molds and color the porcelain using slips we mix ourselves. We will respond to cast slabs or forms with lines, planes, or spontaneous gestures. From delicate drawings to colorful splashes, anything goes. In the second step, we will build simple vessels such as plates, cups, or bowls from the slabs. In doing so, we will explore the assembly of cast porcelain and the connection between form and surface.
