Leather bag with Astrid Jansen
Designing and sewing your own leather shopper
In this workshop, you'll create handcrafted leather bags and accessories, such as a small key ring case, from high-quality, plant based-tanned cowhide. Under the guidance of fashion designer and leatherworker Astrid Jansen and Janis Jansen, you'll learn how to work with the material with care and the fundamentals of classic leather craftsmanship – from cutting and pre-punching to hand-stitching.
To prepare, choose your favorite style and color in advance:
Shopper Erika (landscape format) or Shopper Karin (portrait format), each available in cognac, dark brown, or black.
This allows your individual cut to be prepared – everything else will be done by hand during the workshop.
Over the course of the day, you'll create a bag that will be a cherished companion for many years. If you wish, you can personalize your piece with embossing or add small accessories.
This workshop is suitable for beginners as well as anyone who enjoys working with leather and precise handcraft.
What you can expect:
Working with vegetable-tanned cowhide leather from a small family tannery
Introduction to cutting, pre-punching, and hand-sewing
Creating a leather bag based on your own design
Optional personalization with embossing or accessories
