Artist's Book and Bookbinding with Anne Deuter
From an idea to your own artist's book
In this workshop, you'll transform your own idea into a personal artist's book. From the initial sketch to the finished cover, you'll learn step by step how to create a book object that combines artistic design and bookbinding. We'll begin by looking at materials and tools, discussing their properties and proper processing. Based on this foundation, you'll develop your individual book concept. You'll work with various papers, cardboards, linens, and binding fabrics, designing the structure of your book from the outside in—and from the inside out. Anne will clearly explain fundamental bookbinding techniques such as folding, thread stitching, gluing, and attaching a hard cover. There will be plenty of room for your own creative decisions regarding format, page order, and composition. All steps will be clearly explained and supervised, so you can confidently apply what you've learned at home.
