Wood sculpting for beginners and advanced participants

Under the guidance of the sculptor, we will work on figurative or abstract sculptures. We will first model our ideas and designs in clay and then execute them in wood. The workshop is equally suitable for beginners and advanced participants. We will work with chisels, mallets, and other tools.

The native Hamburger has been working as a wood and bronze sculptor since 2002 and exhibits his works internationally. He prefers to use local wood from northern Germany. In his workshops, the goal is the journey from a piece of wood to one's own sculpture, even if it means changing perspective at times.

"For a four-day wood carving workshop, I was a guest at WERKGUT in May 2022. During the workshop, participants were accommodated in the lovingly furnished guest rooms of the old manor house and were well taken care of around the clock. WERKGUT is a special place with plenty of room for creativity and new experiences. Mikaela's open and inviting nature ensures that you feel comfortable right away. Perfect for a creative break."

"Our days at Mikaela's were delightful. I felt like I was visiting friends! We were creatively engaged with the wood carving workshop. Artist Yves Rasch was there for us at all times, so all participants could take home beautiful results. The delicious food, pleasant conversations, and the atmosphere carried by art at WERKGUT made the days a wonderful time. I'd love to come back!"
