This 3-day workshop focuses on direct engagement with the material stone (alabaster). Under the guidance of internationally renowned sculptor Norbert Jäger, we will develop free forms – organic, geometric, or figurative. We will work without a fixed template, allowing the creative process itself to become a source of inspiration and often leading to surprising results. After an introduction to the material and tools, Norbert Jäger will teach fundamental stone carving techniques: from rough shaping to fine polishing. This will result in individual sculptures with clear forms and their own expressive power. The workshop is suitable for both beginners and advanced participants. Tools will be provided. The material (marble or alabaster) is paid for directly to the artist according to weight.

About the artist:
Norbert Jäger is a stone sculptor and lives in Hamburg. His sculptures are exhibited internationally and are represented in public collections in Europe, Asia, and the USA. He has received numerous awards for his work, including the German Federal Prize for Sculptors. For many years, he has led workshops and symposia in Germany, Italy, and Mallorca. Arrival on Friday from 9 AM. The workshop begins at 10 AM with an introduction to the topic. Afterwards, we'll enjoy good conversation and delicious food until Sunday afternoon around 3 PM. An overnight stay is possible.
The workshop can also be booked for August 11-13, 2026.
You can stay on the estate for a few days afterwards and further develop the techniques learned in the open workshop.
