Eco Printing and Calligraphy with Birgit Nass
Botanical Printing with Plants: Colour, Texture and Lettering on Paper
In this workshop, we combine eco printing with calligraphic design. In eco printing, leaves and plants transfer their natural pigments directly onto paper. Through steaming, delicate and often surprising prints emerge, revealing the shapes, textures and colours of the plants.
We will work with different types of paper and create a series of botanical prints. These printed surfaces will then become the basis for further work. They can be combined with lettering, developed into new compositions or used in collages.
Birgit Nass will guide you through the different stages of the technique and explain how plants, mordants and temperature influence the results. We will also explore the basics of calligraphy and learn how to combine image and lettering in a balanced composition. The workshop is suitable for beginners and advanced participants. No previous experience is required.
