The workshop focuses on the experimental design of ceramic surfaces. Guided by ceramic artist Nana König, we will learn a variety of techniques. We texture clay slabs with different tools, create delicate arches from slip/porcelain using the layering technique, practice sgraffito, and explore the use of the 'painting horn.' This way, each participant can develop their own unique surface texture. Colored slips introduce color into the process and can achieve additional effects. Over the course of the workshop, a variety of interesting design approaches will emerge on clay slabs, which we will transfer onto a cylindrical vessel on the second day. From the designed slabs, we will create items such as small wall art, tiles, or coasters.
